About Pipe Answers

Pipe Answers explains home plumbing problems in plain words: what usually causes them, what you can check without tools or with simple ones, and where the line is between a do-it-yourself fix and a job for a licensed plumber.

Why we started

Most plumbing questions come up at a bad moment: a toilet that will not stop running, a sink that backs up the night before guests arrive, a water heater that goes cold mid-shower. Search results for those moments are often sales pages for a local company or vague lists with no sources. We wanted one place that answers the question first and shows where each fact came from.

Who reads it

Homeowners, renters, landlords and anyone else who has to decide what to do about a plumbing problem. We assume no trade knowledge and explain any part name the first time we use it.

Who is behind it

Pipe Answers is published by the Pipe Answers Editorial Team. Guides are written and fact-checked by the editorial team and reviewed by licensed plumbers listed on our reviewers page, each with a license number you can look up. A guide shows a reviewer’s name only after that person has approved it. Until then it says “Expert review in progress”.
