The Pipe Answers Editorial Team

Every guide on Pipe Answers carries two lines near the top: who wrote it and who reviewed it. This page explains both.

“Written by the Pipe Answers Editorial Team”

The Pipe Answers Editorial Team is the group of editors who research, write and fact-check our guides. We credit the team rather than a single name because each guide passes through more than one person: one drafts it, another checks it against the sources. We do not use made-up writer names or stock headshots to look bigger than we are. If an individual writer ever has a byline here, they will have a real profile page.

“Reviewed by” a licensed plumber

Our reviewers are licensed plumbers. A reviewer reads the full guide, corrects anything that does not match how the work is actually done, and may add advice from their own jobs. Their name goes on the guide only after they approve it in writing. Each reviewer has a profile with their license number and a link to the licensing board’s public search.

When a guide has not been through that review yet, the top of the page says “Expert review in progress”. We publish those guides only after the editorial fact-check is complete.

From question to published guide

  1. Pick the question. We start from questions people search for and group close variations on one page.
  2. Gather sources. Plumbing codes, manufacturer installation and service manuals, the EPA, the Department of Energy, utilities and university extension programs.
  3. Draft. AI tools may help with an outline or first draft. A person rewrites it. See How we use AI.
  4. Fact-check. An editor opens every source and confirms each number and claim, including the title and description.
  5. Safety pass. Anything involving gas, electricity, scalding water or permits is checked to make sure it tells you when to stop and call a licensed pro.
  6. Expert review. A licensed plumber reviews and approves the guide.
